Dum spiro, spero

My new motto for life, “dum spiro, spero.” It translates as “while I breathe, I hope” … or more broadly, “Where there’s life, there’s hope.”

I kind of feel as though that’s God’s motto as well. All the crap that goes on down here on earth must really give Him a headache at times, but as long as there is free will, we will always have the option of turning back to Him and letting Him into our hearts.

I think that, that kind of hope burns in the hearts of all of us. When we watch the news and hear report after report of murder, theft, mayhem, somewhere deep down we all must feel that there is some hope for humanity… As long as we are alive there is a chance that we can turn ourselves around… As long as humanity continues to exist, the spark of possibility will always be there… As long as we breathe, God will still be holding His breath, hoping for the return of His children.
