CoV LAN - Double XP Weekend!

I had a few friends come over to play CoV a while ago, durring the big double XP weekend. We had a great time… we played for around 35 hours! Sheesh…

Anyway, John was taking some video during the event. Here is one of the clips he managed to capture on film.

Well, Keaven is addicted now. It’s official. Keaven has purchased $$$ on Ebay potentially supporting child labor in a foreign country. I asked him how many hours it would take to make the amount of net dollars he purchased for $8. He said it would take many, many, many hours. I asked him, “What American even a child would sell that many hours of work for $8?” The sellers were posing as Americans. He didn’t know what to say! Supporting a subculture such as that should be seriously discussed amongst your very unique community. The only way to stop illegal activity such as that which could be contributing to child labor in other countries is to start within your community policing itself. Keaven just might need an intervention considering the Ebay purchase.

Yes, i bought 3 million infamy over eBay for $8USD. Meh.. you can too! Just visit their eBay store or their homepage!

As for John\’s \”child labor in a foreign country\” accusation, here is what they say in their eBay auctions:

We Are 100% based in the United States

And here\’s what they say on their website in the \’About Us\’ section:

This service is not run by an overseas entity/company.

I have no issues with using their service.

However… should someone bring to my attention information/proof that they have lied in their online statements, then i will bring the matter to eBay\’s attention immediately. It is against their rules for people to post fictitious information in auctions.

Besides, even though it would take me (as a low level character) hours and hours of game play to earn that kind of money, once you reach level 50 you are getting more money than you are able to spend. There are costume contests in the game (unofficial, run by other players) where first prize can be in the millions. Higher level characters often run by and will just GIVE money to low level characters. If you have 9 or 10 level 50 characters, you can crank out money faster than you can sell it (this is speculation, since I\’ve never had a 50th level character… i make this speculation based on observed activity).

If you actually make it to level 50 then you really probably do have a problem and since you won’t be holding down a job at that point you’ll have to make money somehow. Similar to the way drug addicts begin to sell drugs to support their habit. So, then Keaven’s theory is possible, but also people do lie and when you have 16 children to feed $8 goes a long way in India.

I have to add a little disclaimer: While I am a part of the “we” who had a great time, I am not part of the “we” that played for 35 hours. Just wanted to make that clear :)

Keaven should be careful about buying foreign children through eBay 8O

How do you account for Steve’s level 50 character? I think you’re making an unfair accusation based on no knowledge–not even anecodtal–that people with level 50 characters have serious problems and are likely unemployed.

Ummm.. I have a Level 60 in World of Warcraft and I have not lost my job nor have i lost my social life outside of the game. Since drugs is used as an example ill keep with it: Games are like drugs.. you can choose to do them every once in a while and still live a perfectly normal life..
