Wow…

Star Trek franchise head Rick Berman recently made the first mention of a possible timeframe for the next Trek feature film, saying fans shouldn’t expect a movie in the very near future.

What kind of a statement is that? [roll eyes] The article is very wishy-washy on the idea. Not making any solid claims one way or the other. Which is good, because it doesn’t make them in a corner, and doesn’t get our hopes up :)

One thing I didn’t realize:

“Unfortunately, our show costs a lot more than [the Sci-Fi Channel's] shows do,”

Here, Berman is talking about the whole Star Trek franchise as a whole. To keep a ST series alive, it costs far more per show than, say, Battlestar Galactica .. i’m not claiming this is true or not, I’m just relating what HE says :P

I would -love- to see a new Star Trek movie come out. I would also love to have a new series come out that wasn’t sub-par. Berman does mention that the nation was just oversaturated with Trek, and that was one of the major reasons he pulled all Trek from the airwaves. Let the nation recoup, and start to crave it again ;) once the withdrawals kick in, he’ll be ready with a nice Trek injection.

I just hope it will be the pure stuff this time… none of that watered down Enterprise crap .. sheesh, what was that cut with?
