New York, New York
This past weekend (the 15-17) I went with the choir (that’s C.H.O.I.R for the conspiricy theorists out there *cough*Roy and Melissa*cough*) to New York City for our yearly participtaion in a mass choir performance at Carnegie Hall. It’s always fun, and even though it’s a weekend of work-work-work (happy Sabbath), it’s something that we always enjoy.
There were two pieces being performed this year, Mozart’s Requiem and John Rutter’s Magnificat, with two seperate mass choirs. We were in both of them (lucky us). In the Magnificat i was placed in a row of about 6 CUC people… compleatly at random since the producers of the show lined us all up. That worked to my advantage since I didn’t know that one real well [blush]… for the Requiem i had other people all around me. I had a nice time because they were all very friendly. The kid on my right, a High School student from Kentucky, gave me the best complament. He said that he was very glad i was standing next to him, becuase he wasn’t very secure in the music. He said that he really learned what to do by listning to me and if i haddn’t been there he didn’t know how he would have gotten through the weekend. [wipe tear from eye] Isn’t that just the nicest thing ever?
Those of you who know about my excurssions into New York have heard me just gush about this resteraunt called Rue 57. Its wonderfull. If you ever go to New York you simply MUST have dinner there. They sit at the corner of 57th Street and 6th Avenue. Two blocks from Carnegie Hall. We went there for dinner Saturday night, and we had the same waiter we had when we went there last year. Get this… he actually remembered us from last year!! that’s a great waiter!
The performance went well, and we got back to DC about 10 PM Sunday night. [yawn] I’m still tired from working so hard all weekend, but at least it was rewarding. I really get a lot of satisfaction out of choral music. [far away look in eyes]

Great article. I am just sad I dont know how to reply properly, though, since I want to show my appreciation like many other.
